Kate Newmarch
Behaviour Support Practitioner
Kate graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Sydney. She started out her career working in case management with children with disabilities and was part of the pilot program in the development of the NDIS. She has supported individuals and families with a range of vulnerabilities including domestic violence, mental health challenges, substance misuse, complex child protection concerns and risk management.
Kate has extensive experience working with children and young people with epilepsy and other neurological conditions and has worked collaboratively with allied health teams to improve the quality of life for the individuals and to increase family functioning.
She has spent the past 2.5 years working in education providing individual counselling and group work to students, completing functional behaviour assessments, behaviour and escalation plans. Kate enjoys using creative approaches to increase client engagement by using their strengths and interests, and wherever possible to implement these into the positive behaviour strategies. Kate is dedicated to developing the skills and knowledge of the individuals, families and services providers she works with by developing targeted training programs and groups.
